Install WarpSpeed on Microsoft Azure

A WireGuard VPN on an Azure virtual machine

  1. Create the virtual machine

    Create a VM from Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS, and under inbound ports allow HTTP (80), HTTPS (443), and SSH (22).

  2. Allow WireGuard

    In the VM's network security group, add an inbound rule for UDP 51820 from any source.

  3. Make the address static

    Set the public IP address resource to static, so a deallocated VM comes back on the same address.

  4. Run the installer

    SSH in with the admin user you chose and run the installer.

    curl -fsSL https://warpspeedvpn.net/install.sh | sudo bash

  5. Claim your server

    Open the setup link the installer prints, choose a name, and set your password.

Azure filters traffic in the network security group, so nothing on the VM itself needs opening.
